Call for Proposals

The Media Festival: "Tech" us back to Nature in Salamanca is a pioneering event dedicated to exploring the intersection of emerging technologies and environmental education. This festival aims to inspire and engage children and teenagers in discovering how technology can deepen our connection to nature and enhance our understanding of the natural world. By focusing on the young generation's creativity and innovation, the festival seeks to highlight the potential of technological advancements in fostering a sustainable and harmonious relationship with nature.

Objectives:

  • Promote Environmental Education: Showcase how emerging technologies can be harnessed to educate people of all ages about the environment and encourage outdoor activities.
  • Inspire Outdoor Engagement: Highlight technologies and applications that motivate children and teenagers to explore and appreciate nature through outdoor adventures.
  • Foster Technological Innovation: Encourage the development and use of educational technologies that bridge the gap between the digital and natural worlds, making nature more accessible and engaging.
  • Cultivate Young Talent: Provide a platform for children and teenagers to present their innovative ideas and projects, promoting creativity and critical thinking in addressing environmental challenges.

  • Emerging Technologies and Environmental Education: Exploring new tools and methods for teaching about the environment using technology.
  • Technologies that Inspire Outdoor Play: Apps and devices designed to encourage kids to play and learn outside.
  • Apps for Outdoor Adventures: Software that facilitates exploration and interaction with natural environments.
  • Educational Technologies for All Ages: Innovations that help individuals of all ages connect with and learn about nature.
  • Technological Natural Connections: How technology can create or enhance connections with the natural world.
  • Can Technology Help Deepen Our Connection to Nature?: Investigating the role of technology in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of nature.
  • Is Technology Changing Our Relationship with Nature?: Analyzing how technological advancements are transforming our interactions with and perceptions of the natural environment.

Contributions to the Media Festival are exclusively open to children and teenagers aged 9 to 17 at the submission deadline. Participants are invited to present their ideas in the form of digital posters.

  • Accepted Languages: Submissions can be made in either Spanish or English.
  • Selection Process: A pre-selection of the best digital posters will be conducted through a random peer-review process by members, partners, and associates of the NATURTEC KIDS project.
  • Oral Presentation: Authors of the selected posters will be invited to present their work in a 90-second 'Elevator Pitch Competition'.
  • Awards: The best ideas will be eligible for the 'Technology Takes Us Back to Nature' Prize, recognizing outstanding technological applications that promote engagement with the natural spaces of Salamanca.
  • Parental Consent: Minors under 14 years of age on the date of proposal submission will require parental consent (Article 13.1 of the LOPD Regulation) to participate.

This festival not only aims to showcase the ingenuity of young minds but also to encourage a future where technology and nature coexist harmoniously, with technology serving as a bridge to enhance our appreciation and understanding of the natural world.

Format

All digital poster proposals must be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) using through the following “Media Festival Form” using the “one page” Digital Poster Template. For minors under 14 years of age, please remember to upload the required parental consent.

Media Festival Form

The "Media Festival" is a co-event of the annual Conference of the International Council for Educational Media (ICEM), dedicated to engage, students, youth and children of the community in the aims and purposes of the main conference.

For ICEM 2024, the “Media Festival” focuses on the topics of the track NATURTECH, dedicated to the re-connection through technology with nature.
